Our Aims

On this website we promote our UK based artist members that uphold our Aims, which are to:

  • Provide the best service possible

  • Set out clear terms of business

  • Operate in a fair and professional manner

  • Treat memorial portraits with compassion

  • Exclude AI within our artwork

In addition we endeavour to support our nominated pet and animal charities through joint events, art auctions and donations. Please see their valued work here.

Independent Artists - Shared Values

In the UK there are several thousand artists who undertake pet portrait commissions. For the animal loving public wishing to commission artwork – usually for the first time – it can be a task to find the perfect artist, with just the right style and approach. Even better if you can find one in your local neck of the woods! We have brought together around 40 artists from across the UK, who specialise in pet portraiture. They cover a range of styles from realism to expressive and semi abstract or caricature. Some specialise is particular animals, such as horses. Others excel in particular media, such as oils or painting on wood or leather. Our handy search tool (top of each page) will help in your quest. This organisation has set out to establish high standards across its membership, not just in competency in art but also in business standards and client care. Commissioning a bespoke artwork of a beloved pet is an emotional experience – and can be a large expenditure to some. So we feel getting the best for your investment is important.

Extra Assurance When Commissioning a Pet Portrait

You will be contacting and commissioning one of our members directly. We take no part or fee in that process. In order to provide increased reassurance to people seeking to engage a pet portrait artist we ensure:

  • Each member has completed a detailed registration process

  • Their full names and addresses are held on record

  • All members are experienced pet portrait artists

  • Members have held valid email, website or social accounts for a number of years

  • All members have agreed to provide potential clients with a clear explanation of their process, including some form of agreement, contract or Terms and Conditions.

Why have we taken these steps? Sadly there are people who will take advantage of a situation – such as those who will try to pass off digitally modified photos as hand-painted artwork. Or scammers who will set up a bogus social profile then take deposits, with no intention of providing any portraits at all. Please see our helpful tips here for spotting art scams.
