I'm Alex, a self-taught monochrome artist based in Bedfordshire specialising in highly detailed, realistic pet portraits in graphite and charcoal pencil, and oil paint.
My work is driven by a love of animals and a fascination with capturing not just how a pet looks but their individual character, expression and personality. I aim to create portraits that feel instantly recognisable to the owner, capturing those little details and quirks that make each animal unique
Working predominantly in black and white allows me to focus on expression, texture, light and tone, creating timeless portraits with a strong sense of depth and emotion
Alongside commissioned pet portraits, I also create original artwork and miniature paintings, exploring a variety of subjects through my distinctive monochrome style.
Following a long career across both the public and private sectors, I am now dedicating my time to developing my art professionally with authenticity, quality and personal connection with every customer at the heart of Kaberry Art.

"I commissioned Alex to draw a picture of my wife's dog. When I first picked up the drawing, I genuinely thought I was looking at a photograph. I was absolutely blown away. My wife was equally overjoyed when she received it for Christmas. Sometime later I asked Alex if she would create a portrait of my friend's dog. Throughout the process, Alex sent progress videos and photographs. Even receiving those updates becomes part of the excitement watching the portrait gradually come to life. When the day finally came to collect it, nothing could have prepared me for just how spectacular it really was. The artistry, detail, talent and genuine love Alex has for what she does are evident in every mark. When my friend received it, he was completely speechless. Asking Alex to create a portrait is a wonderful journey from start to finish.
